What is the Brighter Futures Society?
By joining the Brighter Futures Society, supporters are able to sponsor the education of one student for one year at CFNC. For $12,000 per year, you can provide a full scholarship for one child at CFNC.
Why join the Brighter Futures Society?
Brighter Futures Society members change the lives of children by ensuring each child gets the education they need to be on par with their peers in kindergarten. One in three low-income Alexandria children arrive at kindergarten not ready to learn. In fact, they may be up to two years behind their peers when they start and unfortunately, without intervention early, may never catch up. Students that arrive at kindergarten unprepared struggle with all aspects of literacy, often having difficulty keeping up with reading levels. Statistics show that by third grade, if a child is not reading on grade-level, they are four times more likely to drop out of high school.
Quality preschool CAN change the odds for these children – it’s one of the only interventions that can make an impact of this size. We know this because at The Child & Family Network Centers (CFNC) we have been ensuring Alexandria children arrive at kindergarten school-ready for the last 33 years. We see the difference it has made for over 3,800 children.
“By investing in early education, you are investing in the child, the family, and the community.”
