Michal is a happy four-year-old who loves to draw pictures. After two years in CFNC’s preschool classroom, she received top scores on her kindergarten readiness tests. Her older brother, Joshua, also attended CFNC and is considered the family scholar. Finishing up the first grade, he loves school and excels academically. “My son is in first grade now and he is an outstanding student because of this preschool,” said their dad. CFNC social workers helped this family achieve a number of goals over the past three years. Michal and Joshua’s mother completed a computer training course, applied for college scholarships and received her American citizenship. When Michal and Joshua’s father lost his job, CFNC helped him find a new position. Despite demanding and inflexible work schedules, both parents remain involved in their children’s education. “Everybody here goes the extra mile to help us,” they said.
