ALEXANDRIA – The Child & Family Network Centers’ Board of Directors announced that Jacquelyn Horstmann Didio has been selected as the organization’s new Executive Director. Didio will officially assume the position on February 3rd, 2020.
Didio takes the helm from Lisa Carter who served in the position for 3 years.
“As we say good-bye and thank you to our beloved Lisa Carter, we are excited to welcome our new Executive Director. Jackie has a passion for early education and brings the strengths and skills to build on CFNC’s success and lead our organization to new heights,” said Heather Jelks, President of CFNC’s Board of Directors.
Didio, a graduate of the University of Florida, is assuming the post after serving for more than 2 years as the Director of Corporate Partnerships at Miriam’s Kitchen, a local non-profit working to end veteran and chronic homelessness in the District.
“What a remarkable opportunity to lead an organization with such a caring, kind and hardworking team who always puts our children and families first. For over 35 years, CFNC has served the children and families of Alexandria, and I am so thrilled to be leading such a dynamic, justice-driven organization towards a very bright future,” commented Didio
Founded in 1984 by a group of Alexandria mothers, CFNC delivers quality education to Alexandria’s at-risk kids. Today, CFNC continues its mission of delivering free quality, bi-lingual preschool and family support for children in the community.
The Child & Family Network Centers (CFNC) provides free preschool education for 139 children and families living at or below 250% of the poverty line, who earn too much to qualify for Head Start but not enough to afford their children with a private preschool education. Providing a unique blend of preschool education and family support services including free health services, in-home visits and counseling, CFNC currently operates 8 classrooms in apartment complexes, recreational centers and other locations throughout Alexandria where these families live.
