Vision Screenings are Underway!

November 21, 2017 Lisa Carter

The month of November is almost over and we are almost done with our vision screenings! Good vision is essential for academic success and vision screenings help identify vision problems early. If an issue is addressed during a vision screenings, our social workers work with our families to make sure that the student gets the extra care he or she needs. In addition to our vision screenings, our students also receive hearing, dental, and developmental screenings to make sure all of our students are happy and healthy!

Last year, as a direct result of our vision screenings, 22 of our students received glasses. Without CFNC’s vision screenings, these students would likely enter kindergarten without glasses and their academic performance would be affected.

We are so grateful to the Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington for doing our vision screenings this year.
